Fall

October 21, 2012

The fall, the fall, oh God the fall of man*

How long, how long will you wait?
How long, how long till you save us all, save us all

Turn your face to me, turn your face to me
Turn your face to me, turn your face to me

The light, the light, the morning light is gone
And all that’s left is fragile breath and failing lungs

How long, how long must we wait?

Turn your face to me, turn your face to me
Turn your face to me, turn your face to me

Psalm 13

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?

Look on me and answer, Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,
and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the Lord’s praise,
for he has been good to me.

~

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:6)

Read In the beginning… for more on this.

*You can listen to The Fall, the fourth song on Gungor’s album Ghosts Upon the Earth, here.

And you can read about the fall as documented in Genesis here.

Very powerful. I always think words on their own are enough… but music cuts across my brain and sometimes hits deeper, if that makes sense!
