Wanted: Love

On a recent train journey I passed some graffiti which made me think: Love is wanted.

In both senses of the word, love is wanted – in the sense that it is sought, and in the sense that it is wanting, lacking, missing in our lives.

But what if our searching hearts were found by knowing and relying on the love God has for us, by knowing that God is love (see 1 John 4:16)?

“We love because he first loved us,” writes John* and “[t]his is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:9-10)

In the words of Jake Smith (Real Love): He took a walk with weight on his shoulder/ It was down a crowded street/ Changing history/ He gave a dying world a chance/ Yeah it was his time, but he had you in mind.

Still wondering what this all means? Here are a couple of other posts on the theme of love to help you in your search:
