Colmicille the Scribe

So I was on the underground the other day, and leant over the seats so far in order to read this poem that I almost fell onto somebody’s lap. “There’s another tube map under there,” someone said. But that wasn’t what I was interested in.

Here’s the poem, written from the perspective of a 6th century Irish saint called  Colmcille, who was also a scribe – oh and it’s by Seamus Heaney:

What’s that got to do with calm in the chaotic? Nothing much, but it was worth craning my neck to look at.
