So I was on the underground the other day, and leant over the seats so far in order to read this poem that I almost fell onto somebody’s lap. “There’s another tube map over there,” someone said. But that wasn’t what I was interested in.

Here’s the poem, originally written in Irish by the 6th century saint Colmcille, translated by Seamus Heaney:

What’s that got to do with calm in the chaotic? Nothing much, but it was worth craning my neck to look at. Check out more poems on the underground here.
